Many of the new generation of power supply units are being manufactured with all SATA power connections instead of the traditional 5.25 inch molex power connections. This adapter allows a device fitted with a 5.25 inch molex power plug to be powered from a SATA power supply connection.

This adapter can also be used in conjunction with PCI express power adapters to enable PCI express graphics cards to be powered from all SATA PSUs.
